First Day of School!

So the time has come to lace up the shoes (or slip on the crocks! :), catch the bus, and start a new year of school! August 18, 2010 was the first official day of school! Where did the summer go? Every year, it just gets shorter and shorter! I definitely wasn't ready for the kids to go back to school! I wanted more play time!
Little Loralyn had graduated from being a Kindergarten Kid, and is now an official big 1st grader! She told me, "Mom, you should see the Kindergarteners. They are so small. They are so cute, because they are so little!" Here's to moving up a notch!
When she came home from the first day of school, she said, "Mom, first grade is so much better than Kindergarten!" I think it is just not being the littlest that she loves! :) Her little mind is a "busy body", so the work will probably suite her really well!
I absolutely LOVE this picture of Roo! I love when we get her real smile! You can tell she is just thrilled to start the 1st grade! There is nothing so cute as the little toothless stage of life! She really worked out those front teeth the last few days of school as a Kindergarten kid, so she could put up two more stickers on the "Lost Teeth Chart"...so she may be toothless for a LONG time! She basically cracked them out! But, she did get the stickers on the chart! She is definitely determined, when it is her idea! :)
Bobby is going into 3rd grade, and I just can't believe it! He was not as thrilled about school starting! He is too much his mom's child! Less work, more play! :)
Bobby is at that fun age of being a boy! He loves all the boy stuff! His cub scouts, his bb gun, his bugs, his dirt, his toys...and best of all, he shares all those loves and time doing them with his little brothers!
At least he is good to put on a smile for the camera! I actually think, some of the girls enthusiasm for the day rubbed off a little in the mess of the morning! We had just gotten in from a last minute trip to see my sister Kristyn in Spanish Fork, UT. the night before!
Lydia is in 5th grade! Last grade in elementary school...and the tears are beginning to form! Where, where, where, did that go? It really freaks me out to think my little girl starts middle school next year...so, I will relish all I can with the fifth grade! What a great start to our family Lydia is!
Fresh from the shower, and ready to be the oldest at school! She is totally thrilled to be the "top dog"! She was telling me she was really excited to get back to school. When I asked her why, "Because it will be fun to see my friends, and be the oldest at school!"
And young womanhood is just around the corner! She is a pretty girl version of her dad! It really is amazing how much she looks like him!
Lydia's fifth grade teacher is Mr. Dolan, Bobby's 3rd grade teacher is Mrs. Altwise, and Loralyn's first grade teacher is Mrs. Griego! They all like their teachers! Hubert Humphrey has been such a great school! We have been really happy with all of our teachers, every year!
We should have moved the hose, but we were running really close to late to school, so getting in "the first day of school" photo shoot was already a stretch! Lydia was really nervous about being late. I told her, "Lydia, it is the first day, everything is chaos, don't worry about being late. It is way more important for mom to get some first day of school pictures!" Steve told me that wasn't the best life lesson I have taught! I told him not to worry, she was still worried, and is a much better being on time person than her mom!
Are those really my kids? They just keep getting older, and there is nothing I can do! Time is really just getting away from me! Whoever came up with the quote, "Cease the day" really knew what they were talking about! It is amazing how fun all the different stages of parenthood are! It is really sad to see them grow so fast, but fun to have play mates now! They are really getting to the age, where the conversations are fun, and they are just little people! Steve and them truly are my Life's Joy!
A little side note: Way to go Steve on planting those cute aspens! I knew they would make a great back drop! Steve always is thinking what would look best or be best for the placement, and I just think..."what will be the best backdrop?" This was a win, win!
